On 2 October 2016, at the restaurant of the Augusta sports and leisure complex, a gathering was held to mark 30 years since karate was first introduced in Montana and since the first organised training sessions. More than 100 former and present karateka looked back on the early years, when karate arrived as a form of spiritual and physical education. Years of extraordinary enthusiasm and of great numbers.
Karateka and public figures were honoured for their contribution to the development of Kyokushin karate in Montana. Everyone who spoke, guided by the truest judge of all, time itself, agreed firmly that what they had learned in the training hall had helped them enormously in building themselves and in facing the difficulties of life.
The current progress of the club was presented, along with the events coming up in the sporting calendar. It was also announced that an international Kyokushinkai karate tournament would be held in Montana on 8 April 2017. The tournament is organised in connection with 30 years since karate was first introduced and first taught in Montana, and with the coming 30th anniversary of the founding of Sports Karate Club Montana.
